Class Description

This course, developed by past Chief Rick Robie of the Erie Airport, is designed to educate structural firefighters in the proper rescue and firefighting techniques to be used when confronted with an aviation incident. It will introduce them to the special hazardous conditions encountered with an aircraft accident. These include special fuels, aircraft components and construction, types of aircraft crashes, proper extinguishing techniques, extinguishing agents, rescue procedures, mass casualties, mutual aid/multi agency response and site investigation. Butler County Community College’s helicopter simulator will provide live fire scenarios on day 2 of the class. A Butler County certificate will be issued for this class.

Student Needs: Full TOG/PPE, SCBA with spare cylinder and note-taking materials

Prerequisite: Mandatory ELIF, EBM or FF1 Certification
